I love Shakespeare and Dr. Seuss, and I found this today. It's wonderful. :)

Pi Day!
Happy Pi Day everybody!
Here's a website to learn more about pi:

I myself don't know very much about pi, so I intend to read about it some more.

Gardening
Hello! I was reading an article about gardening with cardboard boxes. I had never thought of this before, and since it's almost planting time here, I'm glad I found it. It sounds a lot easier and faster than digging out a garden, it's a good way to use cardboard boxes, and the boxes can be used for composting when you're done with them.
Here's the article: http://www.birdsandblooms.com/Gardening/General/cardboard-gardening
Planting a garden is a really useful thing to do. It saves money on groceries, makes you go outside more in order to take care of the garden, and gives you a sense of accomplishment when you see that you were able to grow something. I'm excited to get planting this year. ^_^

Totally Like Whatever, You Know?
This is a poem that Mrs. Williams showed us in class. It's so true. :P
Totally like whatever, you know?
By Taylor Mali
"In case you hadn't noticed,
it has somehow become uncool
to sound like you know what you're talking about?
Or believe strongly in what you're saying?
Invisible question marks and parenthetical (you know?)'s
have been attaching themselves to the ends of our sentences?
Even when those sentences aren't, like, questions? You know?
Declarative sentences - so-called
because they used to, like, DECLARE things to be true
as opposed to other things which were, like, not -
have been infected by a totally hip
and tragically cool interrogative tone? You know?
Like, don't think I'm uncool just because I've noticed this;
this is just like the word on the street, you know?
It's like what I've heard?
I have nothing personally invested in my own opinions, okay?
I'm just inviting you to join me in my uncertainty?
What has happened to our conviction?
Where are the limbs out on which we once walked?
Have they been, like, chopped down
with the rest of the rain forest?
Or do we have, like, nothing to say?
Has society become so, like, totally . . .
I mean absolutely . . . You know?
That we've just gotten to the point where it's just, like . . .
whatever!
And so actually our disarticulation . . . ness
is just a clever sort of . . . thing
to disguise the fact that we've become
the most aggressively inarticulate generation
to come along since . . .
you know, a long, long time ago!
I entreat you, I implore you, I exhort you,
I challenge you: To speak with conviction.
To say what you believe in a manner that bespeaks
the determination with which you believe it.
Because contrary to the wisdom of the bumper sticker,
it is not enough these days to simply QUESTION AUTHORITY.
You have to speak with it, too."

Beauty

Hello! I've been thinking a lot about true beauty recently, and how to behave like a daughter of God. This is a really important thing in today's society, where beauty is too often defined as your clothes, how skinny you are, your makeup, and such things. We seem to have lost standards of modesty and virtue. These are the things that are the most beautiful. I'd recommend placing a reminder of true beauty where you can see it every day, like a post-it note on your mirror or something like that. We're all meant to be beautiful, so we should all try to be.

Do Hard Things
For my school, I'm reading a book called Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. I have read it previously, but it is definitely worth reading over and over.
The list of different types of hard things is really interesting, because most of the time I tend to think of really big things when I think of hard things. Things like raising money for wells in Africa, which it talks about a teen doing.
However, there are also other hard things to do. Here are five kinds of hard things listed in the book:
1. Things that are outside your comfort zone. These are things that you don't normally do and are hard for you, such as public speaking or talking to new people.
2. Things that are beyond what is expected or required. These can be things like working harder than needed to pass in school, or doing more work in your house than is absolutely necessary.
3. Things that are too big to accomplish alone. These are things like what I was talking about at first.
4. Things that don't earn an immediate payoff. These are things like eating healthy, which don't show as soon as you start.
5. Things that challenge the cultural norm. These are things like dressing modestly, or working really hard to get an education.
These are all things that anybody can do. These are things that improve our character, and change both our world and those that are influenced by us, which is about everybody we ever meet.

I'd encourage everybody to read their book. It's really good. <3
